My love of baking started decades ago, and it was nearly 15 years ago when I started sharing my favorite sweet and savory recipes on this website. According to Google, here are the Best Dessert Recipes from my blog. These Dessert Ideas are perfect for dinner guests, family gatherings, or holidays.

The New York Times Cookbook, The Joy of Cooking, and the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook were on a shelf of honor in my childhood kitchen. My mom was an excellent cook, but desserts were mainly reserved for when she hosted her bridge club or dinner club. I had a sweet tooth and she gave me full reign of the kitchen. Lemon Meringue Pie was one of the first dessert recipes I made! I hope you find plenty of enticing recipes to try.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Ingredients Should Be on Hand for Making Desserts?

The basic ingredients for making desserts include all-purpose flour, cake flour, granulated (white) sugar, brown sugar, powdered (confectioners) sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, butter, shortening, cocoa powder, a variety of chocolate bars and chocolate chips, eggs, and real vanilla extract. There will most likely be additional ingredients, depending on the recipe, but keeping these staples on hand will streamline the process.

What Kind of Baking Pans Are Essential for a Baker’s Kitchen? (All links are Amazon affiliate links)

A half sheetpan is great for baking cookies. A 9 x 13-inch pan is excellent for cakes and 8 x 8 or 9 x 9-inch pans work well for smaller batches of brownies or bars. A pair of 8 or 9-inch round baking pans are needed for layer cakes, plus a springform pan is crucial for making a cheesecake.

What Other Supplies Are Needed?

Parchment sheets are excellent for lining baking sheets, dry measuring cups and spoons and liquid measuring cups are also needed. These OXO beakers are great for small amounts of liquids. I also love non-stick foil to line my 8 x 8, 9 x 9, and 9 x 13-inch pans for easy cleanup.
